Israel and Palestine

After the Second World war the UN allowed the Israelis to flee to Palestine, which it was called back then, and live there. Slowly but eventually the Israelis took over the land from the Palestinians and now they govern the country. Palestine is nowadays not recognized by the UN as an official country.

The feelings about who’s country or what really should have happened are really sensible. I think there is a truth to both sides of this conflict. You can’t say that one of the two is right and therefore is eligible to govern the whole country. Nationalism is something that can’t be taken away in a short amount of time. It is logical that both sides are attached to their country and do not want to give up the fight. However, when they will continue in this way, they will never ever find a way to end it.
For example; Palestinians have already lived in “their” country for ages, and the Israelis say it is “their” country because of religious reasons. It is very not surprising that this conflict is already lasting for decades.

Another reason why I think that this conflict will never end is because of the reasons I have mentioned in the first paragraph. Palestinians and Israelis will always continue the fight because they both feel like they are the ones to which this piece of land belongs. No matter how long one organizes negotiations, they will always feel like there is injustice.

Hopefully these two countries will find a way to live next to each, because they have to. However the future does not look very bright.

Donald Trump: Unpresidented

If someone from 2009 was shown the quotes 1 and outbursts of Donald Trump from the last couple of months, he or she would be shocked. Devastated even. The correct word for his term is unprecedented. Or as I like to put it: unpresidented. The entire storm he created around his personality seems to be getting worse and worse. Every time when the public thinks "this must be the worst a president has ever said or done" he takes it to the next level. However this may be my opinion, Trump is different than every single one of his predecessors. He even differs from many other world leaders as well. He is totally undiplomatic, something which can be dangerous when dealing with leaders like Kim Jung Un from North Korea. Leaders who are used to more diplomatic communication than outing personal opinions on Twitter. A great example is the undermining of the entire nuclear deal with Iran, in which former President Obama and his staff put a lot of effort. 2 Let alone the Paris ...

Is there a solution to ISIL? The General Assembly discusses

During the last couple of months ISIL has taken over a huge part of the Middle East, mainly in Iraq or Syria. They changed their territory into IS (Islamic State) and are planning on expanding enormously.  At first the world just watched and stood by, until this week. The war has been declared to IS. President Obama said in his speech during the 69 th General Assembly of the UN today that he asks the world to cooperate against ISIL, who he calls a “network of death”. He build upon that by saying that this world is formed by “those who build the future, not those who destroy!”. There will not be a landing of US troops on Iraq soil again he claims, he believes that ISIL can be destroyed with bombardments. This is a strong statement which become weak if it would be necessary to invade Iraq and Syria eventually. It is a risk he is taking. President Obama was not the only one to speak on the General Assembly this afternoon. President Rouhani from Iran also gave a speech about IS...

What’s all the fuss with Iran about?

Lately Iran and America have been negotiating about a nuclear declaration. Iran has to follow rules set up by America and in exchange for that Iran gets freed from sanctions by the same America. Last week Rohani (the president of Iran) has claimed that he will only sign the deal when Iran is freed from all sanctions led up by the USA. Iranian civilians already celebrated the release from the sanctions last week. Will they be able to keep on partying? The deal which is about to be signed is more complicated than it seems to be. There are different types of sanctions coming from different countries. There are sanctions led up by the UN, the EU, and the USA. To make it more clear I could write in depth about the sanctions. However a video is way more convenient and shows how different news channels look at the sanctions. Let’s first look a video from RT (Russia Today), they have posted a video online in which they clearly explain the current sanctions and how to deal is doing: ...
