What’s all the fuss with Iran about?

Lately Iran and America have been negotiating about a nuclear declaration. Iran has to follow rules set up by America and in exchange for that Iran gets freed from sanctions by the same America. Last week Rohani (the president of Iran) has claimed that he will only sign the deal when Iran is freed from all sanctions led up by the USA. Iranian civilians already celebrated the release from the sanctions last week. Will they be able to keep on partying? The deal which is about to be signed is more complicated than it seems to be. There are different types of sanctions coming from different countries. There are sanctions led up by the UN, the EU, and the USA. To make it more clear I could write in depth about the sanctions. However a video is way more convenient and shows how different news channels look at the sanctions. Let’s first look a video from RT (Russia Today), they have posted a video online in which they clearly explain the current sanctions and how to deal is doing: ...

Greece and Germany, such bad friends?

Are Germany and Greece bad friends as they seem to be? Yesterday the Greek Prime-minister Tsipras visited Angela Merkel in Berlin to discuss the relationship between Greece and Germany which has not been that stable the last few weeks. Remarkable, that’s the word to describe the situation in Europe at the moment. Greece demands money from Germany because of Nazi atrocities. Yesterday he raised the war claims at a press conference with Angela Merkel, according to the Guardian. What is Greece trying to do? They know that they will never get money “back” from crimes that were committed under the Nazi-regime. This could just be a way to cause uproar and unrest in Europe, or they want less pressure from Germany and other countries who have demands that Greece has to change it’s economic plans. Merkel already said that Germany isn’t going to pay for crimes done by the Nazi-regime. She said: “In the view of the German government, the issue of reparations is politically and legally ...

Humanitarian convoy. Right or wrong?

The last couple of weeks the tension between Ukraine and Russia has risen to an extreme height. The civil war in the East of Ukraine and the pressure that is laid upon both sides is huge. Russia is being sanctioned by the European Union while Russia boycotts our vegetable market. In the last weeks there seemed to be a little advance in the agreements made between Ukraine and Russia. There would be a convoy of Russian truck which would deliver humanitarian sustain to the areas which were closed in by the separatists and the Ukrainian Army.   It all seemed to be going the right way until the trucks came to the border of Ukraine, all the trucks would have to be checked on military material. Putin claimed that this was a strategic uphold of the Ukraine government. While on the other hand the Ukrainian government does not want Russia to support the separatists with weapons or any other material. Finally there was some movement of trucks crossing the bo...

The opening borders for Romania and Bulgaria

At January 1st the Dutch and other North-European countries will be fully opened for Romania and Bulgaria. That was four days ago. The inhabitants of Romania and Bulgaria will now be able to travel throughout the Europian Union freely and, like other EU-citizens, try to find a job in the Netherlands. What consequences will this new regulation have? And what do the proponents say? What are the points the opponents are trying to make? The opinions are widely divided not only in the Netherlands but moreover in the whole of the EU.   Since January 1st the borders have been opened so in fact there is not really much the opponents of this regulation can do against the immigration of Bulgarians and Romanians. The minister of Social Affairs stated recently in the NRC – a Dutch newspaper- that the borders have been opened too early. He also claims that there is one big problem that's caused by the free traffic within the European Union. He says that it is causing a downward spiral in the wo...

Cold war 2.0 for Europe? Who knows!

Since the Soviet Union has fallen apart there has been peace and order in the biggest part of Europe. Is this about to change and are we heading into an era of unrest, political struggles, and a new cold war? Just like in 1984. “He who controls the past controls the future. He who controls the present controls the past.” - This is the slogan from  The Party  in  1984 . Although it doesn’t appear that often in the novel, it is of large significance for the regime. I believe that the Vladimir Putin’s regime is starting to behave just like in  1984  the government is. I will explain to you why. Putin’s plans to control his people are slow but will eventually have a big influence. He has already lost a lot of confidence outside of his country and he doesn’t want to lose this confidence inside his country. That is why I think he changes the constitution slowly. Just like in  1984  Vladimir Putin has “revised” his version the acts by Stalin and ...
